Retro instruction manual

This is the cover to an instruction manual for an old sewing maching we have at home. If instruction manual always looked like this, I might actually read them.

Although I'm not quite sure why there's a skier on the cover. Are they all the same person?

Janice Wu

Great asian-culture inspired illustrations from Canadian illustrator Janice Wu. I suspect she likes to collect ephemera.

Apple for ancestors

Found on BBC News. Even the oldest traditions are not immune to technological advancements and consumerist desires. It seems the dead want iPhones too.

Part of ceremonies at Chinese cemeteries, paper objects and clothes are burnt as offerings to ancestors. I love watching the slowly curl in the giant old tin cans.

Just found another one. AnotherMag.

Melting popsicle

It's 9:32 am and I'm freezing in my chair with no socks on and this looks already too delicious. How do they get it to melt so perfectly? Found at Baubauhaus.

Leverage

Yesterday, I had a discussion with a friend about price negotiations. This is the part I hate the most, and always feel awkward when the time comes to sending a quote. It is even harder as a starting-out freelancer because the first times with clients are practice-runs. Having just read this article I feel less comforted by the fact that I have little expertise.

This is not something they teach you in design school.
