Hot Bread Kitchen

Loving the new work for Hot Bread Kitchen by Pentagram. The patterned icons are great and versatile, and the purple colour lends an arabesque feel, in line with the company's "breaducation"mission and a celebration of the the art of breadmaking.

It's easy to see how the pattern could be expanded to interiors, cookbook covers, paper bags...

Masterchef bus ads

The latest Masterchef bus ads reminds me of the poster for the Social Network: sinister looking photography combined overlaid white geometric sans-serif.

I really like this quote from Mind Design

'What condition do you think graphic design in the near future?
Many small graphic design studios are working almost exclusively in the arts and culture sector. There is nothing wrong with that at all but in future it could be an interesting challenge to win back some ground in the commercial sector that is dominated by marketing and make ordinary consumer goods look better and more individual. The economic crisis might help since big marketing budgets have been cut and more creativity is a good alternative.'

It can be really difficult to convince commercial and arts sectors to take creative risks, and be playful and confident with their branding. When you are able to convince them of taking the plunge and try something new and creative, it is a great feeling of achievement.
